From April 21 to May 22, the beautiful works of Wil van Blokland can be seen at the SBK Amsterdam KNSM location. Brand new work, but also an installation from 10 years ago that hardly anyone has seen!
Simplicity and abstraction. These are important features in Wil van Blokland's works. They help the artist better understand the complex world we live in: “The abstraction helps me to understand life better; all noise disappears and I get closer and closer to the essence.” Van Blokland's works reflect her fascination for human relationships and inner experiences. She has been fascinated by this since her early childhood. Not entirely illogical that she started studying Cultural Anthropology in 1972, followed by two teacher training courses. She alternates her free work with projects, such as 'the Smile Exchange' in 2015, in which 800 porcelain smiles from employees of two hospitals in Amsterdam are incorporated.
