In November 2015, SBK, the first art library in the Netherlands, shines with a major retrospective exhibition Diamond Rooms. In honor of our 60th anniversary, a number of prominent figures have delved into the extensive SBK collection as guest curators, in search of hidden treasures.
The personal selections can be viewed from 10 to 22 November during the exhibition that takes place in the former baggage hall of Loods 6 on the KNSM island in Amsterdam. What is unique is that visitors can borrow the exhibited works of art and take them home straight away. In addition to Wim Pijbes (director Rijksmuseum), the line-up of guest curators consists of: Jim de Groot (artist), Cintha van Heeswijck (founder ARTZUID), Remy Jungerman (artist), Carlein Kieboom (editor-in-chief vtwonen), Hadewych Minis (singer, actress), Kajsa Ollongren (alderman and deputy mayor of Amsterdam), Kees van Twist (former director of the Groninger Museum) and Jop Ubbens (director Christie's). In addition to the selection of guest curators, Diamond Rooms consists of presentations of art from different decades, from the 1950s to the present. Special attention is paid to 'art of today' with work by recently graduated up-and-coming talent. With this unique fusion of old and new work, from various art movements, grouped around different themes, SBK shows its special and unique collection.
The personal selections can be viewed from November 10 - 22 during Diamond Rooms at SBK KNSM/Loods 6 in Amsterdam.
