SBK Gallery 23 Contemporary African Art Amsterdam was founded in 2005. The gallery originally focused on contemporary African art. In recent years, the gallery has also focused its the Caribbean and Surinamee.
With approximately 7 exhibitions per year, Gallery 23 tries to provide an image of art and artists from Africa, the Caribbean and Surinamee, living and/or working there or in Europe.

Gallery 23 has been housed in the characteristic building of SBK Amsterdam KNSM location since 2011.
